Welcome from the PTO!

WELCOME to new families and a big WELCOME BACK to returning Montessori families.  We want to take a moment and let you know a little about the 2008-09 Montessori PTO.

What Does PTO do?

• We raise funds to provide support to the school and its wonderful teachers and try to have as much fun as possible with those fundraisers.
• We host a beginning of the year picnic to give families a chance to get to know each other (this year it will be held on Friday, September 5^th)
• We host a Halloween costume party the Saturday before Halloween.
• We help keep maintenance costs down by performing two outdoor clean up days per school year.
• We host four PTO meetings a year.  Each meeting has its own topic.  We provide babysitting at those meetings so everyone has the opportunity to attend.

Here are the dates and topics for this year’s PTO Meetings:

Tuesday, August 26th- Topic: Meet Your Child’s Teacher; 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 18^th- Topic: What to Expect in Montessori Kindergarten; 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, January 28^th – Topic: Transition from Montessori; 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 16^th – Topic: PTO Board Elections; 8:00 a.m.

 
There will be many ways to become involved with the PTO and we need each of you.  There will be an opportunity to sign up for various committees or jobs at the first PTO meeting.  At this meeting we’ll outline the fundraisers, parties and other ways to become involved prior to parents meeting their child’s teacher. 

We also have a PTO table to the left as soon as you enter the front door.   Throughout the year, information about PTO events/meetings can be found on the PTO table by the front door.

 
We have an active PTO and hope you will want to join us throughout the year in supporting Montessori and getting to know other Montessori families!

 
We’ll see you the first day of school but we look forward to formally meeting you on August 26^th and working with you throughout the year.  If you have questions before then, please don’t hesitate to call one of us.
