Videos/DVDs -  We have hired Solar Flair to tape the play.  You may order a DVD this week and through the Wednesday after the play.  The cost of a DVD will be $20.  Preorder at the front desk.

Dress rehearsal –

- No Lunchboxes on dress rehearsal day.  Please send a totally disposable lunch or know that lunchboxes will have to be picked up on Friday morning from school.  We will not be taking them.

- Please do not send your child in clogs, flip flops or backless shoes.

- Girls Hair (except for Cheerleaders) should be worn in a low ponytail or worn down.

-½ dayers are invited to stay all day; if parents choose to pick up ½ dayers at the regular time, they need to bring them back to school by 2:15.  You must let your teacher know whether your child is staying or not.

- All other children will change into the clothes worn under their costume here at school and will then be bussed for rehearsal.

- Suggestion – The children will have two snacks Thursday afternoon.  It would be a good idea to have some kind of snack in the car for them to hold them until they get dinner.

- Parents can sit in the auditorium during dress rehearsal.  If you are planning on taking pictures or video, dress rehearsal is the time to do it.

Picking up from dress rehearsal

- Parents will need to pick children up at 6:15.  Each staff member has a specific job.  It is very difficult for us to put together special plans when children need to be picked up early.  If you have a true emergency, please let Diane know ASAP.

- Parents will come into the auditorium for pick up.  Children will be dismissed in the order of their songs on the CD.  The whole process usually takes about 15 minutes.

What your child wears home from dress rehearsal is what they should be dropped off in on Friday night.  These clothes need to be laundered and returned in their plastic zip lock bag Monday morning. (Each bag has their name and what needs to be return listed on the bag.  We need these bags for inventory to shorten the putting away process.  Please do not misplace this bag.)

Night of the Play – Where you picked your child up on Thursday evening is where you drop them off on Friday night between 6:20 and 6:30.  The pick up procedure will be the same on Friday night as Thursday night.

Volunteers – We will need volunteers to move the set back to school and unload it here.  Let Diane know if you can help.

-        ½ dayers are invited to stay all day.  You must let your teacher know ahead of time if your child is staying.

-        ½ dayers, who do not stay, need to return to school by 2:15.

-        All children will change to their base costume clothes prior to leaving the school for dress rehearsal.

-        Children will be provided a snack during dress rehearsal, but it is a long day and we suggest you have something in the car to hold them until dinner.

-      Parents can sit in the auditorium for dress rehearsal.  This is the perfect time

to take pictures or videos of your child’s performance.

School Play Costume Needs - If your child is in one of the following groups, you will  need to provide the following items for your child on Thursday, dress rehearsal day:

Mrs. Theriac’s boys:  wear/bring dark shoes.

Mrs. Theriac’s girls:  need to wear/bring athletic/tennis shoes light in color.

Ms. Lori’s boys:  Dress shoes, dark color (black ideal) to go with their business suits.

Picking Up from Dress Rehearsal –

-         Parents need to come into the auditorium to pick up their child at 6:15.

-         Children will be dismissed in the order of their group’s appearance on stage.

(ie) Mrs.Bunner’s “Babies” group is the first group on and will be the first group dismissed at the end of dress rehearsal.

-         Elementary children will be the last group dismissed.  They will take up to 30 minutes after the play to change and put away their costume for both dress rehearsal and the play.

-         We will not be able to dismiss any children before the end of dress rehearsal.

-         If anyone other than the parent is picking up the student, we need a written note from the parent the morning of dress rehearsal.

-         No one will be at school after 3:30.  The building will be closed.

Costumes –

-         What your child wears home from dress rehearsal is what they need to be wearing when they return for the play Friday Night.

-         Please do not allow your child to play in these clothes since they are reused for other plays.

-         The clothing they wear home from the play Friday must be laundered in cold water and returned the following Monday or Tuesday in the labeled bag the child will go home with the night of the play.

Day of the play –Next Friday, April 25th

-         School will close at 5:00.  Closing at this time barely gives the staff enough time to eat and report for duty by 6:00.  Thank you for making those special arrangements to have the PM care children picked up early.

Night of the play – Friday, April 25th

-         Children should be brought to the front left corner of the stage between 6:15 and 6:30.  They will be escorted from there by staff.

-         After the play is over, each group will be brought back to the auditorium in the order that they appeared in the play and dismissed to their parents.  Elementary will again dismiss last.

-         We ask that you not bring young children to the play.  We have found in the past that the play does not hold the attention of the very young, and sitting for an hour and a half quietly is often too much for them and distracting to other audience members.

In the past we’ve had problems with children running up and down the aisles

during the program.  As well, it can be difficult to hear when children are crying and somewhat distracting as parents are getting up and down to take care of the little one’s needs.  There is an average of 55 seats per row from aisle to aisle, it is not easy to get in/out of seats.  All of these events can clearly be seen and heard on stage by our blossoming young performers, and it makes it difficult for them to follow through with their performance.  Thank you for any help you can give us in making this a positive experience for everyone.

Photos, Videos, Etc. –

-         Dress rehearsal is the time to take any personal videos or photos.

-         Please do not leave your seats to take photos the night of the play.  There will be 700 hundred people attending and you never know whose view you’re blocking.  No matter how careful you are you will be inconveniencing other audience members.  Having any number of people photographing at any given time is distracting to the children on stage.  And lastly, it’s a fire code violation to have people in the aisles.  Thank you for your cooperation.

-         Solar Flair will again be video taping the play.  The cost for a DVD or video tape is $20.  You can order a copy at the front desk through the Wednesday after the play.

Montessoiree News:

BIG THANK YOU to Alicia Alley and Allie Burton for all of their efforts in making sure we had a great evening at the Montessoiree.  They will be chairing it again next year and using all they learned this year for an even more successful evening—we can’t wait!    As well a big thank you to everyone who helped with donated/secured auction items, helped with setting up, checking out, etc. it was all possible due to Montessori families coming together as a community!  It looks like over $11,000 was raised after expenses.  Congratulations on a job well done!
